The Co-operative Group, trading as the Co-op, is a British consumer co-operative with a diverse family of retail businesses including food retail and wholesale; e-pharmacy; insurance services; legal services and funeralcare, with in excess of 3,700 locations. It is the largest consumer co-operative in the UK and Isle of Man and is owned by more than 4.6 million active members. Membership is open to everyone, provided they agree to subscribe £1 sterling in the capital of the society and share the values and principles upon which the group was founded. Members are democratically involved in setting business strategy, decide how social goals are achieved, and share in its profits – in 2018, £79M was returned to members and their chosen local community causes via the 5+1 scheme. The Group also owed £792M to its lenders.

A former employee said this in a review on Indeed "Everything is wrong about Co Op, no breaks, low wage, unprofessional staff members, no appreciation shown what so ever, no work life balance, rude rdc and delivery drivers, and a serious rat problem which was ignored for months. Overall the worst company I've worked for".

"If you want part time job, this is for you. But asking for time off is the hardest even if you ask 4months before, for some reason they never approve it and you do so much work and never get compensated for it. Also management act like they care about there employees, but they really don’t, only thing they care about is you Taking calls non stop and call volume is always high."

"Think twice or more, before joining this company. It has been the worst company, position, and environment that I've ever been a part of. They say we are a "technology" company now and aim to be "world class". Currently they're unable to merge multiple locations networks together, which leads to multiple separate tools at each location for the same function. Not exactly what you'd expect from a "world class" IT company. So if you like always doing things the hard way and them taking an extra 2 hours, this is the place for you. The "Sr" leadership team says one thing and does another and are constantly attempting to undermine each other. As you can imagine, this leads to a terrible work environment and everyone constantly looking over their shoulder for someone trying to stab them in the back. The facilities are a joke, unless you enjoy a building that is always dirty, no fitness room, no cafeteria, and an atmosphere where everyone is looking for another job, just to get out. Several new associates have started, seen the mess said "Oh no, this is terrible" and left after a few days or weeks. Turnover is the name of the game at COOP Financial Services. We'll just hire someone else. Seriously look at how many jobs we have posted, and have been posted multiple times over the last few years. It's not expansion, it's filling jobs over and over again. Lastly, if you're a salaried employee, be prepared to work 60-80 hours a week. Nothing is automated and every task takes twice as long as it should. "This company's training department is very unstable. They sell the position as a Monday to Friday 8-5 job, but actually this is a 2nd and 3rd shift position. The salary is very low and management is very unqualified. They do not take change well and will expect you to take on ridiculous workloads without any notice and this includes schedules. The environment is very unprofessional and the building is dirty inside.There are no Pros to working herebad environment, low pay, crazy hours"

"They make you learn new skills without compensation, if you refuse to learn new tasks other than what you were hired to do, they threaten to fire you. The pay was very little, and the call volume is ridiculous.benefits are really goodits a 24 hr call center, meaning you could work on weekends, grave yard shifts, and holidays"

"Great for teenagers and college students. Good benefits and ok pay if you are not skilled in multiple things. Once you learn more you have a lower chance to request pto. You are constantly switching hats for different skills that’s very difficult when the call volume is high, which is always. The company is very unorganized.BenefitsHorrible off days and schedules."

"There is no fun to be had in this department. Dept Sr.Supervisor spies and ALL and reports every small error to the Manager who in turn enjoys taking Sr Supervisors word as gold and uses that as a clue to build negative relationships. The Dynamic and Culture in this department is negative unprofessional. DO NOT take a position as an analyst NOR a supervisor... no one is safe. You can do the best job you can and achieve your goals. But get criticized for the smallest thing on a daily basis, instead of an "ataboy' for a real genuine achievement! RUN>>>> RUN..... RUN!!!!free coffeesweat shop, no talking, no fun, no time off the phones."

"This place has decent pay, but this place is the worst for those who have families. The worst part is if you’re sick or need a day off, you can’t call in to us PTO! PTO has to be approved! You get occurances for calling of and even being late from a 10 min break! The supervisors are clueless! This place does NOT value their employees, they pick and choose who they like! They have the mentality that anyone can be replaced, and they screw themselves over by firing so many people and hiring new people and losing the good ones. "This is not a good company to work for and they don't have strong values. They don't value their employees or cardholders. The procedures are very outdated and hard to use. The hardest part of the job is the lack of empathy or appreciation from upper management. They are very out of touch and numbers driven. This is causing poor attendance and morale. - No opportunities to provide feedback, improvement suggestions and advice. Some managers or supervisors showing favoritism, Special treatment. People who said I could come to them with any questions but then get mad and retaliate if you do."

"I appreciate the knowledge that I learned while working at Co-Op Financial Services. Working a decade at a company and only moving up one position would suggest a place that is hard to advance without knowing someone. We were required to get a specific amount of loans per month, but did not have enough business for every credit analyst to make this quota. Some CA's were allowed to work one busy queue, while others were not allowed to work the busy queue. We were required to keep checking queues that had no loans in them, and then asked why we did not make our quota like the credit analysts that work in the one busy queue.The pay is decent, decent bonuses.poor management"

I feel like there really isn’t a point in the company because for every little thing the managers tell you “ just refer the members back to the credit union.” The management literally does not care. What was once a not-for-profit cooperative focused on the advancement and support of the credit union movement has now become a typical, greedy corporation. "I always attend my local coop (Brackla) to grab odd bits and bobs. I attended during the enforcement of face masks being mandatory to wear and the one way system enforced. I was looking for an item and I was at the end of an aisle which was no entry. I was only peering around to see if the item was in this aisle as I couldn’t find it. There were three workers huddled together gossiping, with masks on for a good while. One of which abruptly stated to me that I am not allowed to come up this aisle. The way she said it, was really rude and took me back a bit. Fine, I get that, I agree with the rules and think they should be enforced by staff. She was only doing her job, but it was the way she said it. I was merely looking for an item down the aisle, before I entered. However what made me more annoyed was that, 1. They were not making any effort to social distance between themselves - I understand it cannot always be achieved in the workplace, but this was deliberate and at this point there was nobody else in the aisle. 2. When I walked into the store, there was a staff member who decided to do her own shopping in the store - NOT wearing a mask. Despite the mandatory rule of wearing one and the radio stating this. Staff should be setting an example to customers, whilst enforcing the rules without being hypocritical or rude!"

"3 stores local to me - Trehaven Parade, Western Parade and South Park, none of which enforce the wearing of masks during this pandemic. Irresponsible co-op, you should be ashamed of yourselves. THE LAW STATES MASKS ARE MANDATORY YOU NOBS"

"I cannot believe the prices these people charge it is unbelievable! I Always come to this coop NOT for grocery's but to drop my parcels off.(Myhermes) The last time I went in to drop a parcel here, I picked up a tub of fruit for my daughter who was with me the tub consisted of apples and grapes inside....I got in the car to fine the core of the apple with the stick and pips was inside (sealed) sonI quickly went back in to complain. The next time I went in to drop a parcel off (today) I had to get a few bits of groceries...I normally shop at morisons but needed to get them there and then. Apples,Oranges,pears,nectarine,grapes ect all 2 for £3 @ most other shops weather supermarkets or local shops. I got pack of grapes & 6 pack of apples (5 pounds)!!! I got a few other items bread milk pack of crisps 2 packs of cheap biscuits 33p each and pack of kit kat £15.05 later. you will never see me shopping for groceries in a coop again. Absolutely robbing!"

"Why do the security guards in many of your stores treat everyone as if there are a criminal. They is a way to act without putting customers ill at ease. Not staring and following ‘customers’ that regularly spend money in your stores. But had enough ,going to M&S over the road a much more pleasant experience."
